Minnie "Sandy" Currier, 93 years of age, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Bickford Cottage in Urbandale, Iowa on Saturday, January 7, 2006. She was born on January 27, 1912 near Blue Springs, NE. She lived in Beatrice, NE. from 1928 until she moved to Iowa in 2000, having lived for a short time in Odell, NE. and Phoenix, Arizona. She received her Practical Nurse Certificate from Kearney State College in Kearney, NE. and worked many years in the nursing profession. She was a former member of the Christ Church Episcopal in Beatrice, NE. and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Beatrice, NE. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, tatting and reading.

Survivors include 2 sons, Dr. Kenneth Sand of Altoona, Iowa and Gerald Sand and his wife Virginia of Overbrook, Kansas; 2 daughters, Marcia Reed and her husband Dr. Omer of Phoenix, Arizona and Dorthy Staehs and her husband James of San Jose, CA.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; and sister Della Fitzgerald of Azle, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husbands Albert "Ab" Sand, Leslie Currier and Leslie Frieden; 5 sisters; granddaughter Kirsten Reed; great grandson John Sand; and daughter in law Blanche Obering Sand.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Jean Scribner officiating. There will be no public viewing, but a register book will be available for signatures Thursday from 9-5:00 and Friday from 9-12:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. A memorial has been established to the Christ Church Foundation with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to rich@griffithshovendick.com. They will be forwarded to the family.
