Dorothy M. Vineyard Brockmeyer

Dorothy M. Vineyard Brockmeyer, age 89 years, of Wymore died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Bryan-LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.  She was born March 30, 1920 at Wymore and was a 1938 graduate of Wymore High School.  She married Eugene W. Vineyard on Sept. 17, 1939 at the Immanuel (State Line) Lutheran Church, south of Wymore.  She was employed as the bookkeeper for the Cornhusker Garage in Wymore until 1961.  She then worked at the Singer Co. in Beatrice for three years, and was later the office manager for the Credit Bureau of Beatrice for sixteen years until her retirement in August 1982.  Following Gene’s death in 1987, Dorothy married Fred Brockmeyer on June 17, 1989 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wymore.  Dorothy attended the State Line Lutheran Church as a child, was confirmed at the former St. John’s Lutheran Church, west of Barneston, and was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wymore.  She was also a member of the WELCA of the church.  She was a charter member of the Wymore Country Club.  Dorothy’s hobbies included playing bridge and playing golf, crocheting, sewing, and listening to talking books.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Michael Vineyard and his wife Peggy of Lenexa, KS; by a daughter, Patricia Anne Aron of Ottertail, MN; by a grandson, Matthew Vineyard and his wife Erin of Colorado Springs, CO; by three great grandchildren, Zach, Fiona, and Sebastian Vineyard; and by a stepson, Fred P. Brockmeyer of Denver, CO.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie (Thieman) Herman; by her first husband, Eugene Vineyard on May 1, 1987; and by her second husband, Fred Brockmeyer on Oct. 6, 1992.

Burial will be at the Wymore Cemetery. 

The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, 505 North Ninth Street, Wymore from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, and at the church one hour preceding the service. 

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 11th & L Streets, Wymore, P.M.A. Ernie Waltke officiating.  There will be a family prayer service at 12:45 P.M. Friday in the fellowship hall of the church.
