Geneva G. Schoen, 89 years of age, of Lincoln, formerly of Adams, passed away at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon, August 16, 2011. She was born on June 20, 1922 in Ford City, Texas to Jack and Agnes (Weathered) Frazier. After graduating from Vera High School in Vera, TX on May 25, 1938, she worked at the USO and worked from 1941-1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the garment factory making uniforms for World War II soldiers. She traveled to Nebraska in December of 1944 to join Alfred Schoen who was home from a military hospital after being injured during World War II. On January 5, 1945 in Beatrice, Geneva married her pen pal sweetheart and they lived on a farm south of Adams, NE. until they built a new home and moved into Adams in 1974. She had been living in Lincoln since May 2011. Geneva was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Adams. She worked at the IGA Grocery Store, Teda's Cafe' and Stake Drug Store. She was a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed being able to bake and cook and share her bake goods with neighbors and friends. The family of course loved when she had a new recipe to try out. Her cookbook bulged at the seams with all the new recipes that she had added and made notes on them as to how she had changed them up a bit. She also was a fabulous seamstress until her vision started to fail. She loved to talk with her friends and neighbors, but most of all she cherished the phone calls to her sisters in Kansas and Texas.
